Problem to solve
We ran qualitative interviews with instructors from varying disciplines to understand the challenges they face when using the Marketplace. We combined those findings with the challenges we gathered from internal teams and found the underlying problem:
Instructors have a hard time finding what they need on the site. How can we improve discoverability of content and their engagement with it?
Process
Looking at the journey
My team and I ran a brainstorming session to highlight possible solutions to the problems that instructors were facing along the journey.
Create mockups and validate
Before going into high-fidelity designs, I worked on low-fidelity mockups and conducted a second round of qualitative interviews with instructors to see if the new layouts functioned better than the current ones. The feedback was positive overall so we decided to move forward with the designs.
Design
Based on our learnings, I redesigned the homepage, search results page, and title page.
Timeline and contribution
The design phase of this project took 1 month. I worked with the product marketing team, the product design team, and the lead developer to ensure consistency across all tools.
